Look, on your TV screens! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a superhero TV show!

Comic books have invaded Hollywood, from flicks to TV. Everywhere you turn there's a super-powered individual (or just really skilled human) leaping from the funny books and onto your TV screens. We're in maximum superhero TV show stage, people, and it's only going to get even larger with Marvel's Luke Cage, Lucifer, Krypton, shows based on X-Men properties and more in development.

Right now, the current crop of superhero shows is full of secret agents, and gritty street heroes (both with and without masks). The most recent addition to the ever-growing crop is Marvel's Jessica Jones starring Krysten Ritter on Netflix. The show, set in the same universe as Daredevil, tells the story of a hard-drinking private eye with superpowers who once attempted to fight crime as a proper hero only to have her short-lived stint end in tragedy. It's really good.

With Jessica Jones rocking Netflix, Supergirl taking flight on CBS, The CW's corner of the DC Universe, Fox's Batman prequel and ABC's Marvel shows, there's certainly a superhero show for everybody. But which superhero show stands above the rest? You need to consult our ranking of the current superhero TV shows to find out.

Note: We did not include Powers, Fear The Walking Dead, iZombie or The Walking Dead as they aren't expressly superhero shows.
