Why Is Michelle Rodriguez Bloody, Barefooted and Fleeing a Seedy Motel in Her Underwear?

Don't expect to see this version of Michelle Rodriguez hitting the red carpet.

The 37-year-old actress looked looked worse for wear this weekend when she was photographed in Vancouver in her underwear and a dirty, blood-spattered robe. No need to be concerned, though—the Fast franchise star only looked distressed because she was filming for her role in the upcoming movie Tomboy, a Revenger's Tale.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Michelle stars as a hitman-turned-hitwoman in the upcoming gender-reassignment thriller. Her character is "double crossed-by gangsters and falls into the hands of a rogue surgeon," reportedly played by Sigourney Weaver, who surgically changes the male criminal to a female while performing what is supposed to be an unrelated medical procedure.

From there, the film reportedly focuses on Michelle's character's quest for revenge. The Walter Hill-directed film is based on a story by Denis Hamill and is expected to hit theaters in 2017. As you can see, Michelle's role in Tomboy looks quite intense—but the Jersey City native is ready. As she revealed earlier this year to Interview magazine, "It's been 15 years since I was the lead of my own feature, in Girlfight [which hit theaters 2000]."

"So I haven't done what I came here to do," she explained. "I'm just kind of fiddling around. I haven't even been born yet. I've been part of really big things that are amazing, but I haven't taken on that responsibility yet."

Looks like Tomboy might be the chance for her to do that. Michelle is also interested in being involved in the film process behind the cameras. "I'd love to see four girls who actually get along in a movie that's not about chasing some guy or marrying somebody, she told Interview. "Like, where the f--k is our Pulp Fiction? Where is our Reservoir Dogs? Where's that cool s--t with the chicks kicking ass, having some fun? I've met some really crazy bitches in my life and I've had lots of really amazing friends; I want to see that onscreen. Maybe I'll take some time off and just go write, because, f--k it. What do I have to lose?"
