Araya Diaz/Getty ImagesReports began circulating Wednesday morning that Gavin Rossdale's three-year relationship with the family's longtime nanny is what ended his marriage to Gwen Stefani.
Though Rossdale's publicist could not be reached, a source close to the father-of-three says his only worry right now is his children.
"All Gavin is concerned about right now is protecting his kids. He is a fantastic father and his kids have been going through a hard time," the insider explains.
Meanwhile, photographs of Rossdale wearing his wedding band also surfaced this week, causing even more speculation about the divorce.
"He wears his wedding ring because it makes the kids feel good," the source adds. "His kids are his number one priority."
Meanwhile, the source also clears up speculation as to whether Stefani had been interested in her new beau, Blake Shelton, prior to her divorce.
"[Gavin] had never had suspicion about when Blake and Gwen started dating," the insider reveals. "He just wants her to be happy."
Rossdale and Stefani filed for divorce in August after 13 years of marriage.
At the time, they released a joint statement saying, "While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment. To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time."
The No Doubt singer cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, and is asking for joint custody of the couple's three kids—9-year-old Kingston, 6-year-old Zuma and 1-year-old Apollo, according to court documents obtained by E! News.
Rossdale filed his response at the same time, and he's also asking for joint custody. Gwen checked the box to terminate Gavin's ability for spousal support.
