Newly crowned Project Runway season 14 winner Ashley Nell Tipton has some words for Tim Gunn following his declaration that he "hated" the most recent season because most of its designers "weren't working up to their potential."

"It kind of hurts to hear that he doesn't think that we brought it," the 24-year-old San Diego, Calif. native tells E! News Sibley Scoles. "Because at the end of the day we're listening to him and we're listening to the judges, so somewhere along there someone's not doing their job."

Harsh words for the person whose role it was to champion the designers and bring out their best? Possibly, but Tipton explains that she and her competitors took the competition very seriously. "We are putting everything that we can into every episode every challenge," she says.

They all wanted to do their best, considering they all make their living creating fashion, she adds. "This is our lives right here and we're putting everything on the line, so it hurts a little bit to hear that because we put everything into it and it almost makes us feel like we didn't deserve to go to fashion week or we don't deserve the outcome that has happened."

Watch the video above to find out what else she thought about the season, including the criticism of her crying ("This is who I am and how I show my passion," she says), being bullied by her so-called teammates and words of wisdom for aspiring designers.

Then tune in to E! News tonight at 7 and 11 p.m. for the rest of her thoughts on Gunn and the reaction to her big win.
