Empire finally gave Gabourey Sidibe's Becky something (rather, someone!) to do this week and that definitely made Jussie Smollett happy. Sidibe's Becky got a little lovin' and some backstory that made fans go wild.
"It was hot. She's fearless. She owns herself and she's sexy and she's fearless. It was dope. I thought it was beautiful to see her on screen in that way," Smollett told us.
As for the haters out there who were being snakry about the sex scene, well, "They should close their eyes and shut of their TVs then," Smollett told E! News. "I wanted to see it and millions of other people wanted to see it. Those people don't matter to me, to her, to anybody else."
Smollett and Sidibe were on hand at the SAG Foundation's 30th Anniversary Celebration to honor their Empire boss Lee Daniels. Sidibe, who was nominated for an Oscar for her Precious, said she was "real proud" of her sexy times scene on Empire. "I'm so excited and really proud of the work I did," she said, noting the camera guy she was working with said he had never shot or seen anything like her steamy scene.
"I'm the first person who looks like myself who has been in a love scene on primetime television," she said.
She admitted to some nerves, but was quick to say, "It was the most fun I've ever had."
