Harrison Ford didn't get the Star Wars costume memo Thursday night.

For Jimmy Kimmel Live!'s Halloween-themed episode, host Jimmy Kimmel wore a Princess Leia costume while his sidekick and security guard, Guillermo Rodriguez, selected a Yoda costume. Rather than dress as Han Solo, Ford appeared on the show dressed as a "dog in a hotdog suit." Kimmel joked, "I'm your lover. You don't remember me from the '70s? We had quite a thing."

The conversation quickly turned to Ford's near-fatal plane crash in March. The actor, who is an experienced pilot, suffered critical injuries including a large laceration on his scalp and broken bones. Ford remained hospitalized for almost a month but made a full recovery. The National Transportation Safety Board named engine malfunction as the cause of the star's crash landing.

Ford spoke about the accident in detail for the first time Thursday. "I remember some of it. I remember the engine stopping. I remember that part very well. And then I remember telling the tower what I was going to do, and then I remember their suggestion. Their suggestion was that I take the normal route to land, and I knew I wasn't going to do that, so I said no," he said. "And that's the last thing that I remember until five days afterwards, actually." According to Ford's doctors, the amount of general anesthetic that he received induced retrograde amnesia.

"People do forget stuff like that when it happens, but it's usually in a movie," Kimmel said. Ford replied, "This was not a movie."

Kimmel joked, "You landed on a golf course. Did you yell 'fore' as you came down?"

Ford grinned and joked that he said, "For...d!"

Later on, Kimmel asked Ford about director J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. "Have you seen the movie all the way through yet?" he asked.

"Woof," was all Ford would say.

"What is there to say? And why would you want to say anything?" the actor, 73, said. "I want the audience to experience it. I don't want them to hear anything."

As for why Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) does not appear on the movie poster, Ford joked, "There wasn't room...No, there's a very good reason. I can't tell you."

What could he say without saying too much? "I can tell you this: It's really, really good. Trust me, it's really good. The new cast—Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac—are phenomenal. J.J. has made an incredible movie. You will not be disappointed at all. I promise you," Ford assured Kimmel, adding, "J.J. has given me a chance to have a really wonderful part in a great movie."
