Blake Shelton has no problem being honest when it comes to his personal life.

The country singer stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers Tuesday and admitted the upcoming Country Music Awards are going to be slightly uncomfortable given his relationship status (or lack thereof) with Miranda Lambert.

"This year's gonna be awkward at the CMAs, speaking of jokes," Shelton told Meyers. "Because we are...it's such a family. Everybody there is friends. There's gotta be one about me and Miranda. [Host] Brad Paisley is not doing his job if he doesn't look down there and go 'Ha ha!' You have to address the elephant in the room."

He continued, "We've had the conversations like, 'OK, dude. I'll sit there and let you kick me in the face a few times.' I know it's coming."

Lambert and Shelton decided to divorce in July after four years of marriage. "This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately," the former couple said in a joint statement at the time. "We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."

The exes have gone to the CMAs together since 2007, which means this will be the first time in eight years that they'll be walking separately on the red carpet. In the past Lambert and Shelton have even accepted awards together, so this year's show will be a very different experience for the both of them. Fortunately they seem to be keeping things amicable on social media, tweeting back-and-forth at each other with little jokes.

Although their divorce hit Shelton hard at first, he has since said that he's doing better now. "I'm in a good place," he recently said on CMT Hot 20 Countdown. "I wasn't but I am now. It's amazing how quickly life can turn around for you. I've had some pretty cool things in recent times that have happened and I'm loving it."

The Country Music Awards take place Nov. 4.
