Watch: "Supergirl" Melissa Benoist's Special Moment With Cast

Supergirl takes flight on CBS tonight, but before she could do that, she needed the proper duds. The first time Melissa Benoist put on the iconic costume, well, it was a moment.

"That was a big—that was a really, really crazy feeling. It felt like anything else, it felt like just putting on tights and a leotard and then when I saw myself in the mirror—it's almost like a physical, internal change. I feel like a different person, I really do," Benoist told us ahead of the premiere.

Her cast mates agreed, there was quite a moment when they saw her don the red and blue outfit.

"It makes it real," Mehcad Brooks said. Just look at that smile on Benoist's face in the video above as her co-stars talk about seeing her become Supergirl for the first time. It's safe to say you may have that same feeling when you see it on the show.

What else can you expect from the new superhero series? "Free your mind," Chyler Leigh said would be her message to fans before tuning in. Jeremy Jordan's advice? Well, it's a bit different. Click play on the video above for that and to hear who they'd cast as the TV Superman. Still jonesing for more Supergirl scoop? Well, here's the cast acting their feelings about the premiere and what's in store with in emojis. You're welcome.
