The legendary 2014 Oscar selfie featuring Ellen DeGeneres, Bradley Cooper, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Roberts and more has become one of the most talked about photos of all time…but it may not have been so popular had Cooper not "ruined" it.

During The Ellen Show on Monday, DeGeneres finally got to chat with Cooper for the first time since taking the renowned photo, informing him that she actually had an entirely different plan for the picture before he stepped in to take it.

"You ruined it in the most perfect way!" she laughed. "The whole joke was I was trying to break the internet so that Meryl and I would have the most retweets…[But] The whole joke was I was going to try to get Meryl out of the picture to take the picture so she wouldn't be in it at all."

She continues, "I kept trying to get her out of the picture and you were like, 'No, no no! I got it.' And you took the best picture! It was fantastic."

They joked that Cooper thought DeGeneres was being rude by trying to get Streep out of the photo. The actor laughs, "Yeah! I was like, 'Ellen's got this thing! She's like short circuiting in front of billions of people!'" LOL!

Despite the fact that Cooper essentially ruined the joke, DeGeneres can't help but praise him for a history-making photograph.

"That moment, which could have not gone the way it did…the fact that you took such a brilliant picture. It was great so thank you for being a part of that!"

Meanwhile, the two also got to have a bit of fun during the interview in order to help raise money for breast cancer. Playing off of his new role in Burnt, they decided to cook together, but with a twist…DeGeneres kept her arms behind her back and vocalized the cooking session while Cooper hid behind her, using his hands as hers.

We never doubted them, and of course they completed the cooking task, raising $10,000 for breast cancer research! Check out the hilarious skit above.
