If there's one thing we know about Law & Order: SVU's Rollins family its that drama runs deep, so when Mama Rollins comes to town, well, all bets are off (yes, the gambling pun is intentional). In the exclusive sneak peek of "Maternal Instincts" below, we meet Rollins' mom Beth, played by Oscar nominee Virginia Madsen. Yup, Rollins (Kelli Giddish) has been promising the arrival of her mother for episodes and she's finally here. Is it any surprise that with Beth comes drama?

She's drinking, flirting with Carisi and making reveals left and right. But don't worry, she's going to have a diet soda after every glass of champagne. "'Cause that works," Rollins says.

So, it seems Rollins wanted to be Benson's sergeant, but we all know that's not happening...yet(?). Watch Beth create some awkward tension between Rollins and Benson (Mariska Hargitay) above. Wouldn't it be great to have two women in charge of the SVU squad? In the episode, the detectives investigate the rape of a famous violinist by her colleague. But the accused doesn't have any memory of the crime and claims and escort drugged and robbed him. Evidence then leads to the return of Rollins' sister Kim (Lindsay Pulsipher). And Mike Dodds (Andy Karl) makes his SVU debut as the new sergeant. Sorry, Rollins. Looks like your baby shower isn't going to go off without a hitch.

Last week SVU revealed Declan Murphy, played by guest star Donal Logue, was the father of Rollins' baby after the two had a weekend tryst. He's out of the picture, for now, taking down sex rings in another country.

Law & Order: SVU airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.

(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
