Not that it needs to be said, but the importance of a good eyebrow wax is key to achieving your full beauty potential.

Now that you've saved up, shelled out and waited months for that coveted appointment with an in-demand artist, how long can you really go in between appointments? And now that your brows have been professionally shaped, no need to go back in for another pricy session, right? Wrong.

Like all good things, nothing in life is free and your (worth it but costly) eyebrow appointments are no exception. To ensure that your brows stay on par with celebs like Lucy Hale and Lily Collins in-between appointments, we consulted celeb brow artist Kelley Baker for the dos and don'ts of at-home maintenance.

Knowing proper eyebrow maintenance procedure won't extend your 3 to 4 week window between appointments, but simple maintenance "can help them look a little more presentable as you get close to being due for an appointment," said Kelley.

Think Full, Natural Brows: "A full natural brow is always the look we are going for," shared Kelley. Over-plucked brows actually age your face, while grown-out versions make the face appear fuller and more youthful. So just make sure that you're not going crazy with the tweezers and scissors. "The biggest mistake people make at home is over-tweezing and trying to trim their brows creating holes and unevenness," shared the expert.

Whip Your Brows Into Shape First: The first step to easy eyebrow maintenance is getting your eyebrow shape in a good place. "Anyone who is in the process of transforming their shape should never do any at-home upkeep," warned Kelley. On the other hand, clients that have their shape set are cleared to "do a little upkeep at home since they are familiar with the line to follow," added the pro.

Only Pluck Strays Near the Eyelid: If your stylist does trust you to touch your brows between sessions (yes, you should ask!) make sure that you are only plucking obvious strays. "When my clients ask if they can tweeze between appointments, I let them know not to tweeze along the top or anywhere in the line," advised Kelley. Instead, pay attention to plucking the stragglers that linger closest to the eyelid.

Use Eyebrow Products for a Salon-Perfect Look, Always: Having an arsenal of products at the ready helps keep brows looking salon-fresh even when they're not. Kelley recommended having a smudge proof brow powder to fill in bare spots. She also suggested a spoolie brush because "the spoolie end of the brush evenly softens the product if too much is applied." Camouflage unplucked strays and brighten eyes at the same time by adding a swipe of highlighter on the brow bone.

So as long as you keep the plucking to a minimum and use your products sparingly, you'll be among the brow elite in no time at all.
