Let the fashion planning begin!

More than six months before the highly anticipated 2016 Met Gala, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced the theme for next year's Costume Institute exhibition. Drumroll please…

E! News can confirm the central theme will be "Manux X Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology." The focus will be centered on the contrast between handmade haute couture and machine-made fashion.

"Traditionally, the distinction between the haute couture and prêt-à-porter was based on the handmade and the machine-made," curator of the Costume Institute Andrew Bolton said in a statement. "But recently this distinction has become increasingly blurred as both disciplines have embraced the practices and techniques of the other."

Fashion lovers can also mark their calendars for the 2016 Met Gala that will officially take place Monday, May 2, 2016.

One of fashion's biggest events of the year will be hosted by co-chairs Idris Elba, Anna Wintour, Jonathan Ive and the one and only Taylor Swift.

Just last year, the "Shake It Off" crooner attended the gala where she hung out with bestie Selena Gomez. After walking the red carpet, the two let off some steam by dancing around with Dean Martin's "Volare (Nel Blu Di Pinto Di Blu)" playing in the background.

An eyewitness told E! News that the pair also spent most of their time with Karlie Kloss. "My first Met Gala," Gomez shared after the unforgettable evening. "I felt like a princess who totally downed an entire pizza after. I'll never forget last night."
