Matthew McConaughey

Good try, Matthew McConaughey, but we see what you're hiding under that cap.

The 45-year-old actor stepped out in New York City this weekend with a freshly shaved head, which he (somewhat) concealed underneath a punchy "Alright"-inscribed baseball hat (it's his token phrase, mind you). McConaughey made hair-raising news last week as well, donning a slicked-back balding 'do. But worry not, the Oscar-winning actor's hairline isn't actually receding—the look was just for his new role in the upcoming flick, Gold.

For those familiar with Matthew's many hair changes, this isn't the first time the actor's changed up his mane for the sake of getting into character. In fact, it's not even the first time he's gone the nearly-bald buzz cut route (the first time was back in 2001 via The Wedding Planner press tour). Throughout his lengthy career, the actor's dabbled back and forth between shaggy shoulder-length locks and cropped haircuts. He's even experimented with a few hair color swaps—namely, that classic blond '70s flow à la Dazed and Confused.

And let's not downplay his facial hair happenings either, considering that scruffy beard or his famed Dallas Buyers Club mustache (yep, you know the groovy '80s horseshoe one).

At this point, there's not much Matthew hasn't done to his mane for the sake of a movie role save a crazy rainbow hairdo, but that's more up his pal Jared Leto's alley anyways.
