Speaking at the podium, the U.S. leader gave some humorous advice to the rapper, who had declared at the 2015 MTV VMAs that he plans to run for president in 2020.

"In case Kanye is serious about this POTUS thing, or as he calls it, Peezy,' I do have advice for him," Obama joked, as seen in a video posted on Facebook by ABC7 in San Francisco "First of all, you have to spend a lot of time dealing with strange characters who behave as if they are on a reality TV show. So you've gotta be cool with that."

During today?s DNC fundraiser in San Francisco, President Obama offered three pro tips to Kanye West, who recently said he wanted to run for president. Details here: http://abc7ne.ws/1R4grE6CLICK LIKE if this video made you laugh.

"And second, this is the second important tip: Saying you have a beautiful dark twisted fantasy—that's what's known as 'off message' in politics. you can't say something like that," he said.

His third piece of advice hit close to home.

"Do you really think this country is going to elect a black guy from the south side of Chicago with a funny name to be president of the United States? That is crazy! That's cray!" he said, drawing cheers from the crowd.

Obama had met Kim and Kanye, a native of Atlanta, in Washington, D.C. almost exactly one year ago. During their meeting, he gave them a gift—a signed photo of the three.

"To Kanye & Kim — Thanks for the support and best wishes to your lovely daughter!" it read.
