UPDATE: Ashley Benson released a statement about her controversial costume Wednesday afternoon.

"Yesterday's post was in poor taste and I absolutely regret all of the hurt that photo caused. The caption that was posted was incorrect and my costume was not Cecil the Lion, when I saw that, I contacted my management who handled the post and had it immediately changed," she explained on Twitter. "I recognize that I am responsible for everything posted on my social accounts and this was an unfortunate oversight."

She continued, "I am a supporter of Animal conservation and I will be donating all the proceeds of this deal to the World Wildlife Fund. I love you all and I apologize if I let you down."

Talk about a wild Halloween costume idea!

As we all count down to the spooky holiday, Ashley Benson is hard at work trying to figure out the perfect look. Unfortunately, one of her options didn't go over so well on social media.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Pretty Little Liars star shared a questionable suggestion with her followers.

"Help! Can't decide on my Halloween costume this year!" she wrote. "What do you guys thing of this Cecil the Lion costume? @Yandy #ThanksYandy #Halloweencostume."

Is she talking about the 13-year-old lion who was killed this past summer by an American dentist? Well, the Internet thought so.

The actress quickly edited her Instagram to ask what people thought of "this lion" costume instead of "this Cecil the Lion" costume. Oops!

In Benson's defense, the Yandy outfit she posed in is referred to as the "Deluxe Lion Costume" that allows consumers to be crowned "queen of the jungle" in a velvet catsuit.

Yandy's official "Cecil the Lion Costume," in comparison, features a velvet romper with an attached lion tail and faux-fur-trimmed hood with lion ears.

In fact, according to Yandy, 20 percent of the proceeds from both costumes will be donated to a global conservation organization. With a hefty price tag of $118.95, that means more than $20 will be donated for each purchase.
