The Empire star is set to confirm her engagement to her co-star, Trai Byers, in an all-new upcoming episode of FABLife, airing on Wednesday, Oct. 7, with reaction from the show's hosts Tyra Banks, Chrissy Teigen, Joe Zee, Lauren Makk and Leah Ashley. We can already tell you what our reaction is going to be: *screams*.
While this will be Gealey's first public announcement of her engagement to Byers, E! confirmed the pair was heading down the aisle back in July. Sources spotted a sparkler on Gealey's very important left-handed finger when Byers threw a surprise birthday party for the newly turned 31-year-old and her stunning new rock at the Chicago restaurant, Kinmont.
"They are definitely going strong," a source told E! of the dashing duo. "They make a really cute couple." Understatement of the century!
Unfortunately, business and pleasure will not mix for these two—at least, as far as we know right now. On Fox's Empire, Gealey plays the role of Anika Calhoun, who is engaged to Terrence Howard's character, Lucious Lyon. Lyon's son, Andre, portrayed by Byers, therefore makes him her stepson. Awkward.
Could the pair's forthcoming union inspire some unforeseen script edits for the show? With planned guest appearances by Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, Ludacris, Chris Rock and Kelly Rowland, it seems like plenty is up in the air as far as plot is concerned—one more twist couldn't hurt.
The show, which returned for Season 2 on Sept. 23, has already seemed to capture not only audiences' attention, but also the eyes of Hollywood's critics with two Emmy nominations and two BET Award wins.
While we just have to stay tuned for what's to come for all of our favorite Empire characters, we can't wait to hear Gealey dish more details about the couple's relationship off-screen.
