Is love in the cards for Meredith Grey? Should it be?
That's the question on the minds of Grey's Anatomy fans everywhere now as Mer (Ellen Pompeo) grieves the loss of Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and moves on with her life in season 12. Fans are certainly divided over whether there's room in the good doc's life for another great love—and so are Pompeo's cast mates.
E! News spoke with stars of the ABC hit at a recent TGIT event in Los Angeles, where Jessica Capshaw admitted it might be a little too soon to try and find a new McDreamy. "Oh my good golly. You know, I think that we gotta wait a beat on that one," she told us. "Big shoes to fill."
Meanwhile, co-star Camilla Luddington believes there's room for some romance. "You never want someone to feel lonely and never fall in love again," she said. "I think that everyone hopes for that character to find happiness again."
For what it's worth, the only person whose opinion matters here doesn't have any immediate plans to introduce a new love interest for her leading lady. "I have not planned to [introduce a new love interest for her] and that's not really the focus of what we're doing with her right now," boss lady Shonda Rhimes told E! News this summer. "Meredith is in a rebirth and she's evolving. I'm watching the character do what the character's doing and I'll see where it goes."
