Teresa Giudice, who is serving time in a federal prison for fraud, says she was moved to tears while watching Pope Francis on TV during his visit to the United States.

The 78-year-old pontiff is on his first trip to the country. He visited Washington D.C. earlier this week and on Friday, he spoke at the United Nations in New York City.

"Watching the Pope Francis coverage on TV and I am crying; what a wonderful man, such a kind and gentle soul #ProudCatholic," read a tweet posted on Giudice's Twitter page on Thursday.

That day, the pontiff spoke at Congress about climate change, immigration and poverty and also moved House Speaker John Boehner to tears.

The 43-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey star, and husband Joe Giudice, 45, parents of four daughters, were last year indicted on fraud charges, while he was also convicted of failure to file federal income tax returns.

Teresa began a 15-month federal prison sentence in January and is set to be released early, on Dec. 23. After she is freed, Joe will begin his 41-month sentence.

Teresa is serving her time at FCI Danbury, a low-security federal correctional facility. Inmates are not allowed to use the Internet although they can communicate via phone and email with approved recipients.

Teresa has commissioned tweets from behind bars before. Over the past few months, her page featured posts about 9/11, the Supreme Court's ruling to legalize gay marriage and thank you messages for her fans. One of her tweets was posted by her and Joe's 14-year-old daughterGia Giudice.

Teresa and her family appear in a new reality special, Teresa Checks In, which shows how everyone's been coping with her incarceration.
