Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner Go Out to Dinner Without Their 3 Kids: Find Out What the ''Supportive'' Exes Were Up to

"They are working hard and enjoying being friends," a source tells E! News of the former couple

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are doing their best to remain friends. 

The former couple, who announced their decision to divorce after 10 years of marriage in June, was spotted together leaving popular sushi restaurant Nobu in Malibu, Calif. on Sunday evening. 

Both were dressed casually for the occasion—Jen wore a pair of navy blue slacks teamed with a matching shirt and kitten heels while Affleck sporting a button-down shirt and jeans—and they showed no signs of romance as they exited the popular eatery. 

So, what does their night out mean? 

Let's be clear: this was not a reconciliation dinner. 

"They are working hard and enjoying being friends," a source tells E! News of pair, who are parents to three children, Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3. "Ben wants her to be happy and vice versa."

Following their split announcement, a source told E! News that their divorce is "not contentious," as both parents want what's best for their children.

In fact, Affleck is currently living in a rental down the street from the family's Brentwood home, which is currently undergoing renovations. They are "doing great" and focused on "making sure the divorce is amicable for each other and for the kids," another insider told E! News in July. 

Their dinner out (we're also told they were with friends) seemingly cements their decision to remain as amicable as possible, particularly for the sake of their kids. 

"Just because they are getting divorced doesn't mean they cannot be supportive friends," the insider tells us. "They will have their good and bad days like everyone else."

Shortly after announcing their divorce, the 43-year-old Gone Girl star and the 13 Going on 30 beauty, also 43, became embroiled in a headline-making scandal with their former nanny, although the incident seems to have since smoothed over. 

Earlier this month, they were seen all smiles together in Los Angeles and Affleck even spent his birthday with his ex and their three children.

 

"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce," the parents of three said in a statement to E! News in June. "We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time."

And that's exactly what they're doing.
