After 23 weeks of inactivity, the famously private actress returned to Instagram Thursday. "Hi. I'm still here, I just continue to have an angsty relationship with social media," the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles star wrote. "But what better way to express my apprehension than with a selfie. This time in black n white!" Fox, who joined Instagram in June 2014, also shared a screenshot of her first selfie as a single woman on Facebook.
Who can blame Fox for not wanting to share selfies with fans over the summer? After all, the 29-year-old actress secretly separated from her husband of five years, Brian Austin Green, in June and filed for divorce in August. Fox wasn't exaggerating when she said she has an "angsty relationship with social media," either. She famously quit Twitter days after signing up for an account. "Some of you may, or may not have noticed by now that my Twitter account has been shut down…" she wrote on Facebook. "I thought that 2013 might be the year I finally blossomed into a social networking butterfly...but as it turns out I still hate it."
Even if Fox doesn't love Twitter, Twitter loves her.
Before she posted her selfie Thursday, E! News confirmed that Fox will guest star in an upcoming episode of Fox's hit half-hour sitcom New Girl. The actress will play a new character named Reagan, a pharmaceutical rep in town on business who sublets Jess' room while she's sequestered on jury duty.

Creator Liz Meriwether explained her decision to cast Fox in a statement Thursday. "It's insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it," she said. "I've been a fan of her comedic skills since This Is 40, and I'm so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part—she's the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up."
