MANDEL NGAN/AFP/Getty ImagesDonald Trump went head to head with nine other GOP candidates Thursday during Fox News' debate, but at this point, it seems the Donald's comments about women and Rosie O'Donnell are the only topics social media care about.
When it was Megyn Kelly's turn to ask the real estate magnate about his stance on women, reminding him—and the viewers—that he has often referred to them as "fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals--," he simply interjected, "Only Rosie O'Donnell."
Although the audience roared with laughter and applause, Trump didn't think the moment was too professional. Calling into Friday's edition of Morning Joe, Trump discussed the back-and-forth with Kelly, which has now been upped to a "feud," and said he was OK with the criticism, as long as everyone else gets the same treatment.
"If [Kelly] feels that she wants to do it that way, that's OK with me," he said. "But I just don't think it's very professional. I do say this, and I was listening to you folks and Joe before, if you're going to do that to me, I think it's great. But you have to do it to everybody else—or ease it up. But you can't do it to Trump."
He continued, "I mean, I walked out of that room and people were saying that was really unfair...People thought it was very unfair. Now, can I live with that? Yes. I'm very surprised at Fox News that they would do that because, you know, I would say it's pretty unprofessional. But we will live it with. It's just fine."
Although he considered Fox News and Kelly's attack "unfair," Trump is keeping his head held high. He told Joe Scarborough that he's happy with his performance during the debate because certain polls have him coming out victorious.
"But I've been set up before. I think I handled it well. I guess you have a couple polls that came out, Drudge and Time magazine, and I won in a landslide," he explained.
He later added, "Well, I don't think I could have done any better. I mean, I answered the questions well. There was no question that I would like to say 'oh, gee, I'd like to have a do over,' and in life, I'd like to have many do overs, but you know, in this particular case, I think the first was really a setup beyond belief..."
Because the audience "was fantastic" to him, the Donald walked away fairly pleased with himself. We'll just have to wait and see what else is to come from the republican candidate.
