The whole gang's getting back together for The X-Files revival, even the Lone Gunmen. Yes, E! News has learned the three amigos played by Tom Braidwood, Dean Haglund, and Bruce Harwood will make their triumphant return alongside Gillian Anderson's Dana Scully and David Duchovny's Fox Mulder when The X-Files returns to Fox this January.

But wait, you're probably thinking the same thing we are: the Lone Gunmen died in season nine of the hit Fox series. And hold on a second, you're probably thinking this too: William B. Davis' Cigarette Smoking Man was also killed, but he's also set to return. So how's this going to play out? Flashbacks? Well, anything is possible in a sci-fi series that has an overarching conspiracy about alien colonists.

Series creator Chris Carter is behind the six-episode event series and he also had a hand in The X-Files comic book series, a "season 10," that saw the Lone Gunmen return and confirming they faked their death in the season nine episode.

Along for the new ride is Mitch Pileggi as Skinner and new faces Joel McHale, Rhys Darby, Kumail Nanjiani (check out what he had to say about his appearance!) and Annet Mahendru. Lauren Ambrose of Six Feet Under fame and The Flash's Robbie Amell have also been cast as new FBI agents, sort of the next generation of Mulder and Scully.

The X-Files will debut new footage during the Thursday, July 23 episode of Wayward Pines on Fox. The series returns with a two-night premiere starting Sunday, Jan. 24 at 10 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. PT and continuing Monday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. in its normal timeslot.
