A possible threat from an on-the-run drug lord doesn't seem to have fazed Donald Trump.
The real estate tycoon and Republican presidential candidate took to Twitter yesterday to berate both the United States and Mexican governments over the escape of notorious drug lord Joaquín Guzmán Loera—more popularly known as "El Chapo" Guzmán—from prison.
And Guzmán may have taken notice. But first of all, Trump's harangue, which continued into today.
"Mexico's biggest drug lord escapes from jail. Unbelievable corruption and USA is paying the price. I told you so!" he began last night after news broke that El Chapo had escaped from a maximum-security prison, seemingly via a tunnel that stretched from the jailhouse showers to a corn field about a mile away.
And it appears that El Chapo's ears started burning immediately. Just moments after Trump's first tweet on the subject, Twitter user @ElChap0Guzman tweeted a missive in Spanish that in English amounts to, "Keep [expletive] around and I'm gonna make you swallow your [expletive] words @realDonaldTrump."
Enter the feds, according to Trump, although the FBI officially had no comment when asked whether the Bureau was investigating the alleged threat. And that could easily not be the El Chapo tweeting.
But it doesn't look as if Trump lost any sleep over it last night either way.
