Xposure/AKM-GSIIt looks like Ariana Grande is legally in the clear for the doughnut incident heard 'round the world. (Public opinion, on the other hand, might not be so easy to sway.). But the owner of Wolfee Donuts has decided not to press charges against the pop star.
"The owner of Wolfee Donuts declined to press charges against Ms. Grande and this incident was documented to assist the Department of Environmental Health only," the sheriff's department said. Perhaps it was her lengthy video apology that did the trick, but regardless, we're sure the "One More Time" singer is breathing a sigh of relief now that she has one less "problem" on her plate.
After Grande released an initial statement to E! News, which included a brief apology and an impassioned speech about childhood obesity, many felt Grande's words weren't sincere enough. As a result, she released a longer, more impassioned video about how sorry she really was for saying, "I hate America" and licking doughnuts.
"I just wanted to make a video to apologize again for the whole doughnut fiasco and craziness because I feel like the apology I posted, I was...I like kind of missed my opportunity to actually sincerely apologize and express how I was feeling because I was too busy preaching about my issues with the food industry, which is, like, not, I feel like, relative," the ex-Nickelodeon star said.
The backlash happened to occur as she backed out of the MLB All-Star Game concert at the last minute, so many assumed it had to do with the ongoing doughnutgate; however, she said it was "emergency oral surgery" that forced her to swap with Demi Lovato.
"Here I am apologizing to y'all, chubby cheeks and all, because I feel like seeing a video of yourself behaving poorly that you didn't know was taken is such a rude awakening," she continued. "It's like you don't know what to do. I was so disgusted with myself. I, like, shoved my face in a pillow and wanted to disappear. But instead of that I'm gonna come forward and own up to what I did and take responsibility and say I'm sorry because I reacted in a way that I feel like wasn't necessary, to say the least, but also just wasn't me at all."
Even though Grande explained herself a couple of times, some thought that Lovato threw her some shade during the concert that she was originally supposed to perform at.
