Kate Hudson is running wild!

The Almost Famous actress sat down with Bear Grylls to discuss their adventures on the season two premiere of Running Wild With Bear Gryllls

The outdoorsman guides a different celebrity guest through treacherous terrain in each episode. This rugged hunk took Kate to an Italian mountain range, where their skills were put to the test.

Bear loved his experience with 36-year-old actress. "One of the charms of Running Wild is you get to these stars really in a very authentic way," he says. You see the real person when you're cold, beaten up, hungry and it's been raining and the altitude and all of that stuff and you're sleeping on the floor in the middle of a forest. And the real you is amazing. She was fearless, strong, funny. And it was such a privilege to do it together "

Hudson also had a great time, although she did have to eat some pretty nasty stuff. "The pigeon actually tasted really good," Kate admits. "Because we slow cooked it, I think it got a little bit more flavor."

Grylls adds, "That was Kate's input. I caught the thing and I was kind of like, 'Right, I'm hungry. Let's eat.'"

Hudson notes, "Its sort of like a gamier chicken."

Although Kate was initially grossed out at having to eat ants, she relents, "The taste of the ants was fine."

Running Wild with Bear Grylls, featuring Kate Hudson, premieres July 13.
