Prince Charming is getting his own Cinderella story, so to speak.

Though he was born with a certain set of advantages that most commoners could never even dream of, little is known about his youth. Surely he had some obstacles to overcome, aside from finding the one woman whose foot fit perfectly into a magical glass slipper. Thanks to Disney, that's all about to change.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Walt Disney Pictures has picked up a project centered around Cinderella's suitor. Matt Fogel wrote the script, while David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Tripp Vinson are on board to produce. Details are being kept secret for now, but the script has been described as a revisionist take on the fairy tales. Meanwhile, sources tell Variety that the point of view will come not from the prince himself, but rather from his brother, who never lived up to the family name.

Richard Madden most recently played Prince Charming, AKA Kit, in Walt Disney Pictures' live-action Cinderella, directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Lily James in the titular role. The movie debuted to stellar reviews earlier this year and later earned a whopping $539.3 million at the global box office.

Of course, at this point, it's unclear if Fogel's version will focus on Cinderella's Prince Charming. The stock character appears in many other fairy tales, including Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, sometimes with another name.

Capitalizing on the successes of its live-action reimaginings of Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent and Cinderella, Walt Disney Pictures has several films in either production or development, including Alice Through the Looking Glass, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, The Jungle Book, Mulan and Winnie the Pooh.
