Former Mousketeer Britney Spears, 33, took sons Sean Preston Federline, 9, and Jayden James Federline, 8, to Disneyland over July 4 weekend. The pop star shared several pictures via social media, but it was the photo of Spears and her boys posing in beaded curtains that really stood out. "The boys and I doing our best #Oops album cover pose!" she wrote, referencing 2000's Oops!...I Did It Again.
Ironically, Spears' sons weren't even alive when the disc was released.
Photographer Jon Ragel shot the album's now iconic cover. Spears released four singles: "Oops!...I Did It Again," "Lucky," "Stronger and "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know." Oops!...I Did It Again featured the first song she co-wrote, "Dear Diary." Its other songs were "Don't Go Knockin' on My Door," "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" (a Rolling Stones cover), "What U See (Is What U Get)," "One Kiss From You," "Where Are You Now," "Can't Make You Love Me" and "When Your Eyes Say It."
The album debuted at No. 1, moving 1.3 million units its first week.
Nigel Dick directed the "Oops!...I Did It Again" music video, and its production was chronicled in MTV's Making the Video. What fans likely didn't realize, though, was how troublesome the shoot actually was.
"The first day of making the video for 'Oops!...I Did It Again' was fine. I had a red vinyl catsuit on and it made me look completely flat, so I had to wear those fake boobs. But then they started falling down and I was so humiliated!" Spears recalled to Allure in 2000. "We ended up having to sew them in. The catsuit was extremely hot: It got the point where the sweat was coming out of the sleeves when I'd swing my arms around. It was so gross! We did that dance number 15 million times."
"The next day I was drowsy at the shoot. I have really good instincts about things, and I was sitting in the chair and I was like, 'You know what? I feel like something's going to happen.' I didn't know what, but it kept going through my head. Then sure enough! I lay down for the first shot of the day—it was an overhead shot looking at me—and the big metal piece that was holding the camera fell and hit me in the head. It gave me four stitches. I was, like, knocked out. See, stuff like that happens to me! Isn't that bizarre?" the multiplatinum pop star asked. "So we had to shut down production for a few hours. I was upset because we only had one day to shoot the video and I knew we were going to go overtime. My flight the following morning was at 4:30 a.m. and so I knew I wasn't going to get any sleep before the next show [for the Crazy 2k Tour]. I was just devastated. And so frazzled—after I finished performing for the camera, MTV's Making the Video was there, and these other press people were in my face. I was like, 'You know what? I need a massage.' So I got one. It totally cleared my mind, and I was so rejuvenated."
The video was released on Apr. 10, 20000, and the album was a major success.
Oops!...I Did It Again won two Billboard Music Awards: World-Record Breaker of 2000 and Album Artist of 2000. The album was also nominated for an American Music Award (Favorite Pop/Rock Album), plus a Grammy Award (Best Pop Vocal Album) and a Juno Award (Best Selling Album – Foreign or Domestic).
Spears released six studio albums in the following years: Britney (2001), In the Zone (2003), Blackout (2007), Circus (2008), Femme Fatale (2011) and Britney Jean (2013).
