Kaia Gerber isn't just pretty—she's popular, too!
Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber's 13-year-old daughter reached 100,000 Instagram followers on Monday, and to celebrate, Kaia uploaded a video of herself wearing red lipstick and kissing a mirror.
The teen called the social media milestone "absolutely crazy."
Though Kaia inherited her supermodel mother's good looks, she isn't allowed to model full-time just yet. For Cindy in particular, it's important that her daughter not rely on her beauty to get ahead in the world.
Before Cindy became one the most sought after models in the world, she had envisioned a different life for herself. As the studious child of working class parents in Illinois, she said, "I finished my senior year out, and because I had worked so hard at my academics, I was able to graduate valedictorian, which was great. That helped me get a really great academic scholarship at Northwestern for chemical engineering. Super exciting! I mean, there's no way that my parents could have afforded to send me to school there."
As Cindy recalled during an episode of Oprah's Master Class in 2013, when she showed up for her first day of calculus, "I caught the professor's eye, and he was like, 'Honey, I think you have the wrong class.' And that made me so mad because it was really the first time in my life that I felt judged by the way that I looked. I did not grow up feeling that I had to prove that I was as good as boys. I just assumed that I was. He just made a snap decision on me: 'If she looks like that, she can't be good at calculus.'"
