Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas must be getting to be pretty good friends by now!

The newly single model and her longtime pal (who also happens to be unattached at the moment) were snapped together again in Toronto Wednesday night after attending Maybelline New York's  100th Anniversary party. At one point, 25-year-old Joe appeared to place a protective arm on the 20-year-old model, although at another snap, the attractive duo were laughing with a larger group of friends.

So...what's the deal with these two? Gigi, who amiably split up from Cody Simpson (again) just last month, and Joe, who broke up with model  Blanda Eggenschwiler last summer, have been photographed together more recently. Romance rumors have plagued these two since Gigi and Cody broke up for the first time in May 2014 (they got back together in November and have since called it quits again).

But as Gigi told E! News exclusively at the time, Joe is just "a really good friend of mine."

As for those rumors that there could be something more building up between them? "It's just really hilarious to us," Gigi said. "We will read it and we will be like, 'Oh, we're dating. Oh cool.' We just laugh it off. It's funny for us."

Perhaps someone's had a change of heart since then? Time will tell. In the meantime, though, Gigi's ex isn't totally out of the picture. According to Cody's sister Ali Simpson, he and Gigi still hang out together and with each other's families. "We're super close," Ali told E! News last month, "and all care about each other immensely."

And there really doesn't seem to be any bad blood between them. At the time of Gigi and Cody's split, a rep for the model told E! News, "They love each other dearly and have split up in hopes that growing on their own paths will bring them together in the future...They remain friends with no hard feelings and each other's biggest supporters."

Careful not to get friend-zoned, Joe.
