First 8 Minutes of Aloha Released Early to Combat Bad Reviews: Is It Really Cameron Crowe's ''Worst Film''?

Buzz hasn't been great for Cameron Crowe's new, star-studded dramedy, so...is this proof that it really is watchable and charming?

Aloha is good. No, really...it is! Sony insists that you see for yourself and not listen to those dratted critics!

The latest romantic dramedy from Cameron Crowe doesn't open wide until Friday, but the first eight minutes of the film were just released today, seemingly so that those who happen to click on and enjoy the clip will be more enticed to buy tickets this weekend.

Presuming they're entertained by minutes one through eight.

While people might not be reading reviews yet, they're out there—and some spell doom for the film, which stars the seemingly engaging likes of Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Bill Murray and Alec Baldwin.

Indiewire calls the movie "shockingly bad," with reviewer Greg Cwik writing that "Crowe seems to have expunged all evidence of his distinctive filmmaking talents."

A.O. Scott of the New York Times writes that he benevolently tried to "leaven my disappointment with mercy," but ultimately, "the plot is a hash when it's not a drag, and the 100-odd-minute cut of the film arriving in theaters on Friday seems hacked from something longer and baggier.

And Variety's Andrew Barker flat-out calls Aloha "unquestionably Cameron Crowe's worst film." Rotten Tomatoes approval at the moment? 11 percent.

We are after all talking about the director of such always-in-our-hearts gems such as Say Anything, Jerry Maguire and Almost Famous...so...what a shame to hear Crowe may have dropped the ball again, Elizabethtown-style.
