Hari Nef is poised to become a household name.
The 22-year-old Ivy League grad, who made her runway debut during New York Fashion Week Spring 2015 last year, has signed a deal with IMG Models, E! News confirms.
Nef is now the second transgender model to sign with the mega-agency, following Paris-based Valentijn De Hingh, and the first to be signed to worldwide representation.
A source tells us that IMG is very excited to be adding Nef to its starry roster (Gigi Hadid, Lily Aldridge, Gisele Bündchen, etc.) of talent.
"Today begins our journey with @harinef," tweeted IMG senior VP and managing director Ivan Bart. "This girl's future is so bright, guys r knocked out behind her! @imgmodels."
Nef has been busy today retweeting the coverage of her major career advancement, but just yesterday she coyly wrote, "been feeling like i'm kind of whatever but upon further inspection i'm kind of a pretty girl."
The actress-artist graduated from Columbia University this year with a major in Drama & Theater Arts and she already has a list of theater and indie film credits. Her writing has appeared in Vice, Adult, Blackbook and Dazed & Confused, whose readers voted her No. 1 on the Dazed 100 list of creative types defining the future of style and youth culture in 2015.
So far she's walked runways for Hood by Air, Eckhaus Latta and Adam Selman, and we have a feeling that list of credits is going to grow by leaps and bounds as well.
