Whatever is in the water at Camp Firewood, well, we want some. The Wet Hot American Summer cast does not age.
Netflix released the first photos from Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, the prequel series to the cult-classic Wet Hot American Summer. Everybody's back and despite being in their 40s, their playing teenagers…and pulling it off.
"Wet Hot American Summer: First Day Of Camp is a prequel to the original movie. In real life we're fifteen years older but in the show we're playing two months younger," co-creator David Wain said in a statement. "The movie took place on the last day of camp in the summer of 1981. The show takes place on the first day."
The cast for the series includes Elizabeth Banks, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Janeane Garofalo, Nina Hellman, David Hyde Pierce, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, AD Miles, Christopher Meloni, Marguerite Moreau, Zak Orth, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon and Michael Showalter.
"We thought it was funny that in the original we played a bunch of thirty year olds playing teenagers. Now we're in our forties and our characters are even younger," Showalter said in a statement.
Joining the returning faces are newcomers to the Wet Hot world Josh Charles, Jayma Mays, John Slattery, Lake Bell, Michaela Watkins, Paul Scheer, Rob Heubel, Richard Schiff, Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, Chris Pine, Jason Schwartzman and Randall Park.
