Watch: TV's 9 Most Powerful Leading Ladies

It's been a great year for women on television so far.

We've compiled a list of our top favorite, sassy, strong, independent and inspirational leading females on the small screen!

In at No. 9 is Jennifer Morrison's character, Emma Swan, aka the Savior, aka the coolest princess around on ABC's Once Upon a Time. She's fiercely protective of the ones she loves and will do anything and everything to keep them safe. She's super loyal. She's super skeptical. She doesn't take crap from anybody. And speaking of fierce, that's also the best way to describe her wardrobe.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Veep character, President Selina Meyer, also made the cut. The prez is bold, confident and, well, let's just say she isn't afraid to say exactly what she thinks. A lot. Even when it's inappropriate. OK, especially when it's inappropriate.

HBO

One of ABC's breakout hit shows this season, How to Get Away With Murder, centers around the awesomeness that is Viola Davis' character, Annalise Keating, an unrelenting and inspiring law professor and criminal defense attorney.

And how could we leave out Robin Wright as the clever, sophisticated, poised and megalomaniacal Claire Underwood on Netflix's House of Cards? Watch the video above to find out which characters made our top nine list, ranked!
