Dolls, listen up: When you want something, you've got to go after it!
Case in point? Kim Kardashian, who told Access Hollywood's Billy Bush that she was the one to pursue Kanye West in the wake of her 2011 split from Kris Humphries.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 34, said she was "always attracted" to the rapper, 37. "When I first met him, we worked on a project together and there was definitely a spark, but we were in other relationships and we kept our distance," she recalled. "We stayed in touch here and there and then when he wasn't in relationships, you know, it's just our timing would always not really coincide."
But after filing for divorce, Kim was hesitant to date again. "And then, I think it was six months after I was newly single in like 2012, I was like why not?" she told Access Hollywood. "Like, what am I waiting for?"
So she took matters into her own hands! "I called [Kanye] because I'm sure it was really hurtful that I got married and, even though it's not like we communicated all the time, I knew what he was thinking," she said. "So I thought he was going to call me as soon as he knew that I was single again. He didn't, and so I called him and I said, 'Hello? I thought you were at least going to call me and 'I told you so,' something?"
Of course, Yeezus isn't the type to gloat. "And then–he's always been a good friend to me, like, we've always been there for each other – then he invited me to a fashion show of his in Paris and I went," said Kim "and then the magic happened."
Again, Kim had her worries about entering into a relationship after ending her marriage. "But then in my head I was like, 'You know what? Screw it,'" she said. "Like, this is probably what I've been waiting for, it's been in front of my face."
That it was! Now, Kim and Kanye are coming up on their 1-year wedding anniversary (Sunday, May 24) and the proud parents of little North West, who turns 2 next month.
So you see, dolls, sometimes happily ever after can only begin when you're the one to pick up the phone!
