Watch: Melissa McCarthy Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Melissa McCarthy doesn't mind if you walk all over her—all over her new star, that is.

The Spy funny lady received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier today in front of a crowd that included her hubby Ben Falcone, Ellen DeGeneres and director Paul Feig.

"It just seems really nuts," McCarthy told me. "It really seems like there's 50 cherries on top of the sundae."

Also in attendance were the Illinois native's mom, sister and a slew of her film and television co-stars.

Her dad, however, wasn't able to make it—for a hilarious reason.

"He is deweeding the lake," McCarthy explained. "It was his turn at the club to take care of the weeds, so he's doing that. That's the truth. I can't write that."

She went on to praise her parents for encouraging her comedy dreams.

"Every time I said, 'I'm going to quit college and do standup' my mom and dad would say, 'Great! Work hard at it and you could probably do it.' And they continued to say that for the 20 years it took me to actually do it steadily," McCarthy said.

The future Ghostbusters star joked that she keeps thinking her star is the "fake one.

"I'm going to camp out around it and make sure it doesn't dissolve in the first rain," McCarthy cracked. "Like mine's actually made out of papier maché."

In Spy (in theaters on June 5), she plays a desk-bound CIA agent who becomes an unlikely spy alongside Jason Statham. She did most of her own stunts in the action-packed flick.

"I didn't mind that action stuff one bit," McCarthy said. "I don't know what's wrong with me, but I really liked it."

So now it's time for the Emmy winner to take it to the next level. Yes, Melissa McCarthy wants to play a superhero!

She smiled, "Give me a cap and tights and a tunic and I'm good to go!"

McCarthy is the 2,552nd person with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. You can find it in front of the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre not far from Robin Williams' star.

Congrats, Melissa!
