Last summer, Marvel announced that a female incarnation of Thor will be joining the comic book canon, and after the expected disgusting, misogynistic backlash and Chris Hemsworth being all like, "Why is everyone freaking out, mate? Put another shrimp on the Barbie and get over it!" (Or something like that), Thor the God(dess) of Thunder has been kicking some ass. But she's been kicking ass without revealing her true identity.
Until now.
On Wednesday, Thor #8, written by Jason Aaron and illustrated by Russell Dauterman, will reveal the person behind the hammer, but of course this is the Internet and it leaked already. Marvel confirmed the spoiler via an interview with The New York Times, so now we know it's legit. So if you want to know who your female Thor is, we've got the answer down below.

Thor is...Dr. Jane Foster!
And Jane Foster (who is played by Natalie Portman in the movies) is also battling cancer in the comics. The former girlfriend of Thor taking up Mjölnir actually makes her symptoms worse, so becoming the superhero is physically destroying her.
"I am Dr. Jane Foster," she says in the last page of Thor #8. "And I will not stop being the mighty Thor. Even though it is killing me."
"Jane Foster has been part of the Thor comics and the Thor mythology from almost the very beginning," writer Jason Aaron tells The New York Times. "The very act of picking up this hammer, of becoming Thor, is killing her. Where we go from here is the real story."
Aaron also revealed that he's been delightfully surprised that Thor has found a new fanbase.
"Most of the new readers seem to be women and young girls, which is great. You're seeing more and more comics that appeal to that audience," he says. "Usually when I say I write comics for a living, I kind of get blank stares. Now, when I say I write Thor, they say, 'You're the lady Thor guy?' Yup. That's me."
Does this plot revelation mean that Portman might eventually take over for Hemsworth as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? MCU is certainly laying the groundwork for certain other storylines from the comics (no spoilers here, look elsewhere), so we'd say it's definitely possible.
