Singing and dancing may take center stage in Pitch Perfect 2, but one of the most amazing stunts in the film was creating the hundreds of diverse hair looks for the Barden Bellas, their competitors and critics.

That epic feat was seamlessly achieved by the film's hair department head, Cheryl Marks, who conceptualized every style from high-velocity curls to new-wave beehives.

Now, as excitement builds for the film's release—and tonight's LA premiere—Marks is busy prepping one of its stars, and herself, for the red carpet event and big reveal of some of the most daring Bella looks yet.

What's it like to gear up for such a major affair? Here, Marks walks us through a day in the life of a Hollywood hair maven as she gets ready for a bigger-than-life film release.

Before prepping Pitch Perfect 2 actor Kelley Jakle for her premiere look, the two reminisced about Kelley's hip-hop look in the film, which called for major hair.

A little fun before clocking time in the chair. While at E! HQ, Kelley ran into a few castmates—members of the Green Bay Packers football team (who have a hilarious cameo in the film).

Then, back to work for a creative meeting with the E! team.

Cheryl creates Kelley's red carpet look by creating the illusion that it's been cut.

Tickets in hand and ready for red-carpet glam!

Selfie love with Hana Mae Lee (who plays Lilly) and Kelley (who plays Jessica) in the film. Kelley's final hair look is holding up beautifully!
