The royal meeting!

Queen Elizabeth II arrived at Kensington Palace earlier today to meet her great-granddaughter Princess Charlotte for the very first time.

The royal was spotted being driven into the palace wearing a lilac sweater and matching blouse.

Prince William and Kate Middleton drove their second baby back to Kensington shortly after the duchess gave birth over the weekend.

And just after the queen met the newest member of the royal family, Princess Charlotte was officially registered!

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have formally registered the birth of Princess Charlotte," a statement read from Kensington Palace.

"The Duke of Cambridge signed the birth register at Kensington Palace this afternoon witnessed by a Registrar from Westminster Register Office."

The paperwork for the 3-day old wee one shows her birthplace, full name, parents' names and the "usual address" where Princess Charlotte can be reached—not that just anyone can go about reaching her.

Alison Cathcart, the superintendent registrar for Westminster City Council, released a statement about her involvement with Princess Charlotte's official paperwork.

"It was an honour to register the birth of Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. Westminster City Council has a long history of registering royal births, including Prince George, and it's a pleasure to formally welcome the latest addition to the family."

Meanwhile, shortly after Princess Charlotte's birth, Kensington Palace released the following statement on behalf of her proud parents.

"The Duke and Duchess are hugely grateful for the messages of congratulations they have received from people all over the world. It means a great deal to them that so many people have celebrated the arrival of their daughter."
