Remember that whole "It's Gonna be May" meme trend? How could you forget, seeing as it just happened yesterday. People all over the Internet got a giant kick out of posting different versions of a picture, playing on the lyrics from the 'N Sync song "It's Gonna Be Me." You know, this one:

It's Gonna Be May, Justin Timberlake

Well, it turns out that the Backstreet Boys are feeling a little left out. They want fans to know that they exist too, and they posted this Tweet to try and get in on all the fun.

It's sweet that BSB got jealous of all the attention that 'N Sync is getting, but we're going to call this as a too-little, too-late situation. A day late and a dollar short. Day-old news. How many more ways can we say this?

Every year at the end of April our collective social media feeds become absolutely flooded with the godforsaken "It's Gonna Be May" memes to the point where we begin to dread late spring. This year, just as we thought we were in the safe zone, free of all the ridiculousness, the Backstreet Boys decide to extend our collective May suffering. Why, BSB, why?

At the very least, it's always fun to reminisce about Nick Carter's flowing locks of yore. And for that, we are thankful.
