There is one thing scarier than the sight of an out of control riot. And that sight is your pissed-off mother coming toward you to give you a piece of her mind.

A video from the Baltimore protests of a mother physically dragging her son out of a riot has gone viral since emerging on Monday night and is being shared with the hashtag #MomoftheYear. In the video caught by local news cameras covering the situation, a mom is seen slapping the crap out of her son and lecturing him for participating in the riots.

WMAR reports that the woman was watching TV when she saw her son throwing rocks, so she immediately tracked him down. She found him wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack, and someone recorded her repeatedly smacking him upside the head and going on a profanity-ridden rant before dragging him away from the crowd.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts praised the mother for her actions during a press conference on Tuesday morning.

"These are Baltimore youthful residents; a number of them came right out of the local high schools there on the other side of Mondawmin and started engaging in this," he said. "And if you saw in one scene, you had one a mother who grabbed their child who had a hood on his head and she started smacking him on the head because she was so embarrassed. I wish I had more parents who took charge of their kids tonight."

Most people on social media are applauding this mom's actions and have already immortalized her with the meme treatment:

The protests in Baltimore broke out following the funeral of Freddie Gray, who died while in police custody. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has declared a state of emergency, while city officials have enforced a 10 p.m. curfew that starts on Tuesday.
