Zoe Saldana says she weighed up to 185 pounds while pregnant with her and husband Marco Perego's  twins last year and that her body was "really bent out of shape" after they were born.

The 36-year-old Star Trek and Avatar actress, who had always appeared slender prior to her pregnancy and showcased trim looks at celebrity events over the past few weeks, made her comments on Friday in a Facebook post, alongside a photo of herself on a treadmill in a gym, looking slim and fit. It is unclear when the picture was taken.

Saldana said she is on a "slow," "painful" and "frustrating" journey to lose weight and get healthy and gain her energy back, with the help of her trainer, Steve Moyer.

"I was 160lbs (at the peak of my pregnancy I reached 185lbs)," Saldana wrote in her post. "I had no flexibility, weak joints, and exercising was painful. We started with just walking, I think I only walked that first month."

Her husband, who goes by Marco Perego Saldana on Facebook, shared Saldana's post, adding, "Keep Pushing. Always supporting You. You inspiring Me. Gracias de Todo."

The actress, who is believed to be around 5 feet and seven inches tall, has weighed 115 pounds in 2013, as revealed on the cover of Allure magazine. Saldana confirmed the weight figure in an interview on the Today show, saying, "I've always been a very thin frame. That is how much I weigh, it's something I can't control. It's who I am."

Saldana and Perego welcomed their twin sonsCy and Bowie, their first children together, in late November and revealed the news the following month.

"Your body changes dramatically, inside and out," the actress wrote in her post. "You grow in places you never knew you could, and you are tired beyond belief. In some cases more than others, your body experiences a kind of trauma through childbirth that is difficult to explain unless you've had that experience. My case was like that, everything from my thyroid to my platelets crashed. Thank God, we are all doing great now, but my body was really bent out of shape after the boys were born."

She said that "bouncing back feels impossible," but that she knows it is "important as a woman, and now a mommy, to not give up."

The actress said Moyer started training her in January and will work with her over the next two months before she heads back to work. Saldana is expected to begin filming Star Trek 3 soon.

"I am determined to get my energy back and find balance for my body before these little guys start walking, and before I go back to work...my clock is ticking!" Saldana wrote. "Two months ago I started my journey, and it's been REAL— I'm not gonna lie—it is slow...painful...and frustrating. But it is worth it."
