UPDATE: Well, she looks bluer than we thought!

Hilary stepped out for an errand run after her, er, highly eventful morning at the hair salon and showed us that her locks were not only dip-dyed—they're turquoise from the root. We haven't seen Hilary looking this rocker-chic since, well, ever, really. It's definitely a fun, unexpected look, but we wouldn't be surprised if we see Hil back to her normal blond waves soon.

Hilary Duff is feeling blue!

For her hair, that is: The star took to Instagram on March 18 with a snapshot of her teal locks. "@Ambahhh turned me into a mermaid last night," she wrote alongside the photo, which shows her getting her new blue hair styled by Amber Maynard at Nine Zero One salon in West Hollywood.

The change follows a sunny beachside retreat that Hil took with 23-month-old son Luca and a few of her closest girlfriends (the hot mama even shared a sexy bikini shot, along with a message encouraging other mothers to be proud of their post-baby bodies).

And she isn't the only star to rock teal locks: Kylie Jenner has been a trailblazer for the look (the 17-year-old cropped her hair and went turquoise last May), while Vanessa Hudgens tried out teal dip-dyed extensions (with flower crown, natch) at Coachella last May.
