Just hours after Bobbi Kristina Brown's birthday on Wednesday, her longtime partner, Nick Gordon, has checked himself into rehab.

E! News has learned that Nick's mother, Michelle, and attorney checked him into a treatment facility after an intervention with Dr. Phil in Atlanta earlier this week.

It's unclear what Nick entered the rehabilitation program for, however, many of his close friends and family where concerned about his wellbeing after he posted a series of what appeared to be suicidal tweets.

In fact, on March 3, Nick posted, "I'm so hurt I wanna do myself in. I know I have to [stay] strong."

Then on Bobbi Kristina's birthday, he wrote a heartfelt message to his loved one for his thousands of followers to see.

"Happy birthday baby I wish I was there with you to hold you and be by your side."

And considering the fact that Nick appears to be getting professional help at this time, one could surmise that Dr. Phil's intervention was a move in the right direction.

A source told E! News yesterday that Nick's mother was the one who wanted the meeting with Dr. Phil, fearing that her son was suicidal.

"As we sit here right now, my son's life hangs in the balance," she told Dr. Phil with Nick by her side during their interview.

"When Whitney was found, he administered CPR to her and called me as he was standing in front of her saying, ‘Mom, why couldn't I do it? I couldn't get air into her lungs.'"

Michelle added, "He won't let go of the guilt."

TMZ was the first to report the story.
