Carlton Banks took the lead because he was really into racing

Will Smith has most definitely put the brakes on this plan for his younger kids.

When the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum's oldest son, Trey Smith, turned 16 and had to learn how to drive, Will thought it would be a great idea to have Alfonso Ribeiro AKA Carlton Banks teach him all of the tips and tricks of getting behind the wheel because he was into racing.

So into it, in fact, he had competed in several races himself!

While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote his upcoming film, Focus, Smith explained the basis of his idea, which lay in the thought that the racing school (and Ribeiro) taught drivers how to "catch the car if it drifts" and "drive like a real driver."

But unlike the neurotic, responsible Carlton Banks, Ribeiro had a totally different plan in mind!

"Then I get a call from the pastor of the church that he was doing donuts in the church parking lot," Smith revealed. "This is a lesson to the parents: Don't educate your kids."

LOL!

We can only hope that those "donuts" made Trey a good driver!

The Focus actor has been busy promoting his new movie, which co-stars Margot Robbie. During his press tour, Smith has been relishing in the nostalgia of his former rap career and even teased to E! News that he has been in the studio with Kanye West! Although he didn't confirm an official return to music, he did tease that a collaboration between the "Only One" rapper and him could "absolutely" happen.

"[Kanye's] pushing me a little bit. I'm trying to find my voice because...I got things I want to say I just can't find them," he told us. "I can't get them out poetically the way that I want just yet, but you never know."

We're positive you'll figure it out, Will!
