A 30-year-old teacher and her 16-year-old student are trapped on a deserted island together.

That is the very real plotline of an erotic novel that is currently in development as a blockbuster movie. And we have Fifty Shades of Grey to thank for it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, as a result of Christian and Anastasia's box office success, pop culture is about to be swept away by a veritable tidal wave of dirty books-turned-flicks. "I'm sure now everybody is going to be walking into studios pitching, 'It's Fifty Shades meets this or that,'" producer Jennifer Gibgot, who is currently in the process of a different naughty adaptation, told the trade.

Gibgot, along with partner Adam Shankman (he of Step Up fame) have optioned the different-but-also-sexy-we-presume After, a fan fiction novel inspired by One Direction's Harry Styles. Audiences will also be able to look forward to Beautiful Bastard, another Twilight-knockoff-turned-sex-book, about an MBA student who starts a "torrid love-hate relationship" with her boss.

The aforementioned teacher-student erotica, On the Island, is being penned by the writers of The Vow. The movie version promises to be less about sex (as compared to Fifty Shades) and more focused on a "passionate tale of romance." Between a 30-year-old and a 16-year-old.

Most of the books set for the big screen have followed the same online-to-print release path that launched Fifty Shades of Grey to fame. None of the onslaught of erotica have release dates yet, but be warned that they are coming. And with worldwide box office numbers continuing to climb, we're sure this isn't the last we'll hear of this trend. Sorry, society at large.
