After getting booked into a Florida jail for allegedly stealing a number of items from a home in foreclosure, Vanilla Ice has been released. Despite facing burglary and grand theft charges, the rapper, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, told reporters that the whole ordeal is a mix-up.

"It's a misunderstanding, it was blown out of proportion," he said as he was leaving the Palm Beach County Jail, according to a local NBC affiliate. "It's sad that good news doesn't travel this fast. It's just out of proportion and I wish you guys would focus on all the good things I've done."

He added, "It'll all get cleared up. You'll see."

The Lantana Police Department said in a release Wednesday that Van Winkle was their main suspect in an investigation into a burglary that occurred sometime between December and this month.

The house he allegedly burglarized is adjacent to his own Lantana, Fla., home, which he has been renovating for his DIY show, The Vanilla Ice Project. According to police, a search warrant turned up the missing items, which include a pool heater, bicycles and furniture, "under the care and control" of the "Ice Ice Baby" rapper.

Van Winkle voluntarily met with detectives and provided a sworn statement before being taken into custody.

The DIY network released a statement that said it has "been made aware of this situation and is currently looking into the matter."
