Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are now parents of a healthy 2 1/2-year-old son. But when their boy Jack was born prematurely in 2012, weighing only 3 pounds, 12 ounces...

They didn't know what to expect.

"My water broke in the middle of the night at seven months," Faris recalls in an exclusive sneak peek obtained by E! News at the March issue of Redbook, on newsstands Feb. 17. "We rushed to the hospital, and they were able to halt active labor with magnesium. I was at the hospital and the goal was to be in bed for four weeks...but on the seventh day, I went into labor again.

"I was in denial," the Mom star added. "For hours I was like, 'I'm just having indigestion.' Chris and I were so scared, but then Jack came out. Even though he was so tiny, he looked so good to us."

Sorry, we just have something in our eye... OK, better now.

Faris, who also graces the magazine's cover in a bright, printed spring dress by Issa and Jimmy Choo heels, also said that the harrowing experience ultimately helped bring her and Pratt closer together.

"It's one of those things that drives you apart or makes you closer," the 38-year-old actress said frankly. "I think that being a father is very meaningful and rewarding to Chris. He's a great dad. He's a little more serious than he was before. It forces your hand. You really have to become an adult."

Well, here's hoping that Pratt's parenting prowess helps Faris feel a little bit better about her busy schedule. Talking about balancing career and family, she said, also rather frankly, "Motherhood is like a big sleeping bag of guilt."
