Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson discussed the hairy situation (pun intended) during a sit-down chat with HuffPost Live, when the interviewer exclaimed that Anastasia Steele "actually has a bush, which is fantastic!"
The director explained that there was an actual conversation between her and Dakota Johnson about her character's grooming (or lack thereof).
"It was a conscious choice. Dakota and I had a very funny discussion about the arc and journey of her pubic hair… that she should start one way, and she goes on this journey with it, and in line with how it's written in the book is the journey of that," Taylor-Johnson said.
The exciting news about Steele's pubic hair journey comes after the even more exciting news that the director has signed on to the sequels.
"I'm signed on," she told E! News when asked about any plans for a sequel. "Let's see how this one goes first."
Sam echoed similar sentiments when talking about directing the next installments of the franchise with HuffPost Live, saying, "It's that feeling of you've just had a baby, and someone goes, ‘When are you having the next one?' It's like, ‘Whoa, give me a little moment here. I need to breathe.'"
