Getting On will be back on duty for a third and final season on HBO. The appropriate reaction is: "YES!" Followed quickly by, "Oh, man! The final season?"

E! News has confirmed the cult hit series starring Alex Borstein, Laurie Metcalf, Niecy Nash and Mel Rodriguez will return for six episodes.

The critically-acclaimed comedy follows the doctors and nurses tasked with caring for the patients of a geriatric extended care facility. When season two ended, Metcalf's Dr. Jenna James was under scrutiny for her hospice program, Borstein's Nurse Dawn Forchette has just gotten married—but not to Rodriguez's Nurse Patsy De La Serda—and Nash's Nurse DiDi Ortley was caught in the crosshairs of scandal.

Getting On hails from Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer, the creators of Big Love. It's based on the UK series of the same name from Vicki Pepperdine, Joanna Scanlan and Jo Brand. During its second season, the show averaged 1.6 million viewers an episode.

Getting On was paired with revived comedy The Comeback for season two and wrapped its run in December. Guest stars included Alia Shawkat, Jayma Mays, Carrie Preston, Jean Smart, June Squibb and Betty Buckley.

Seasons one and two are available on HBO Go now, so see what you've been missing before it's too late!
