Confidence is key

The elements alone can do pretty serious damage to our skin. But add intense camera lighting and heavy makeup, and our visage can go from supple landscape to raw terrain...fast.

So how does E! News correspondent Alicia Quarles brave the storm? In the video above, the laid-back beauty shows us how she prepares for big events while maintaining healthy, glowing skin.

"Celebrities are lucky, because we didn't just wake up like this," said Alicia, pointing to her flawless face.

In reality, celebrities have a whole team behind them—all dedicated to making them look beautiful. In other words, don't compare yourself, Alicia urged.

You can, however, master their beauty-enhancing routine at home.

On the daily, Alicia drinks a gallon of water to flush out toxins. Five days before a big event, she dials down the H20 intake a bit and uses facial moisturizing products like Olay Regenerist Micro-Sulpting Cream. It helps to regenerate surface cells and reveals new, younger-looking skin by the time her stiletto hits the red carpet. After all is said and done, she's prepped for the red carpet inside and out.

And though gorgeous gowns and killer accessories help, the best way to radiate beauty on the red carpet is to look within, she added.

"You're most beautiful on the red carpet or during awards season when you're happy with who you are," she said. "A healthy glow is absolutely key to feeling good on the red carpet, but that glow comes from inside."

Get your glow on, girl.
